The instructor for the workshops is Isaac Broeckelman, FHSU Health Promotion student. The free workshops are offered in conjunction with Walk Kansas, but are open to anyone who would like to attend. Dates and topics include:

April 22—Tips for Losing Weight and Keeping It Off

Healthy eating and physical activity work hand in hand to help us live healthier lives. This workshop will give tips for losing weight and/or maintaining a healthy weight. Learn how to determine your body mass index and the amount of calories you need each day for a healthy weight. Also learn weight loss strategies such as tips to eat less, keep track of what you eat, rethink your drinks and add activity to your day.

April 29—Make Heathy Eating Part of Your Total Lifestyle

Small changes can make a big difference. This workshop will use the “go, slow, whoa” concept for foods that should be eaten regularly and those that should be eaten only occasionally. Learn to choose more fruits, vegetables and whole grains, less sodium and added sugar, and use the Nutrition Facts label as a guide to healthier eating.

May 6—Physical Activity is Key to Living Well

This workshop will feature the benefits of regular physical activity and specific recommendations for aerobic and strengthening activities. Learn several simple strengthening exercises which you can do at home with minimum equipment.

The public is invited to attend these educational workshops. To pre-register or for more information, contact Linda Beech at the Ellis County Extension Office, 785-628-9430.
