Kansas

On March 19, the Farm Bureau awarded Kansas First District Congressman Tim Huelskamp the Friend of Farm Bureau Award for his service to the agriculture community during the 112th Congress. Huelskamp is a fifth-generation farmer and works to ensure that the voices of the farmers and ranchers in Kansas’ Big First District are heard in Washington.

Huelskamp released this statement regarding the award:

“I am honored to receive the ‘Friend of Farm Bureau Award.’ As a farmer myself, I understand the challenges that farmers across the state face day in and day out. The Big First District has a long history of Agriculture that continues to be the driving force of our economy. Kansas agriculture continues to feed and fuel America and the world. I am pleased and honored to stand up for Kansas Agriculture, and will continue to fight for our rural way of life.”

The “Friend of Farm Bureau” award is given in each Congress to those members who were nominated by their respective state Farm Bureaus and approved by the American Farm Bureau Federation Board of Directors.

Huelskamp represents the First District of Kansas. He serves on the House Small Business Committee and the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs. He is a member of the Republican Study Committee.
