Pratt Livestock Feeder Cattle Auction, Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 856 head, Feb. 23, compared to 2,568 head, last week and 4,336 head, last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.
Compared to last week, steers 750 to 900 pounds were $5 to $8 higher, however weighing conditions in favor of the buyer, as cattle had extra days and went through a major snow storm. Steers 750 pounds and under not enough for market test. Heifers not enough for a market, a steady undertone was noted. Slaughter cows and bulls not enough for market test. Trade was light and demand moderate for weighted classes for cattle. The feeder supply was 88% steers and 12% heifers with 98% 600 pounds and over.
Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 550 to 600 lbs., 164.50 to 165.00 (164.73); 55 head, 665 lbs., 147.85; 60 head, 745 lbs., 143.25; 750 to 800 lbs., 138.25 to 142.75 (142.21); 800 to 850 lbs., 138.85 to 139.75 (139.34); 850 to 900 lbs., 135.85 to 138.60 (137.62); 60 head, 905 lbs., 136.10; 91 head, 950 to 1000 lbs., 130.25; 1000 to 1050 lbs., 126.60 to 128.25 (126.98). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 4 head, 877 lbs., 132.50.
Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 63 head, 795 lbs., 129.25; 850 to 900 lbs., 123.75 to 127.10 (126.41).
