Newell sheep sales reportSt. Onge Livestock Co., Ltd., Newell, S.D., reported receipts of 1,932 head Feb. 21, compared to 661 head two weeks ago, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Sale not reported last week, comparisons made from two weeks ago. Feeder lambs sold steady, Good slaughter ewes sold $5 higher, Utility slaughter ewes were $2 to $3 higher, Cull ewes were steady. Very good demand for several long strings of slaughter ewes, feeder lambs and bred ewes which sold on an active to very active market. The offering consisted of 52% feeder lambs, 23% bred ewes, 25% slaughter ewes and bucks. Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, fleshy, 129 head, 172 lbs., 43.00. Utility 1 to 2, Medium, 207 head, 151 lbs., 37.50. Cull 1, thin, 69 head, 134 lbs., 21.50. Feeder lambs: Medium and Large 1 to 2, 64 to 68 lbs., 146.00 to 147.00 (146.69); 74 to 75 lbs., 135.00 to 140.00 (139.28); 83 to 85 lbs., 133.00 to 138.50 (137.45); 94 to 98 lbs., 123.00 to 129.50 (128.93); 105 to 107 lbs., 115.50 to 120.00 (119.76); 112 to 115 lbs., 113.50 to 114.50 (113.59).
