Clovis livestock auction report

The Clovis Livestock Auction, Clovis, N.M., reported receipts to 2,243 head Feb. 20, compared to 1,341 head last week and 1,820 head last year, according to the USDA-New Mexico Department of Agriculture Market News, Clovis, N.M.

Compared to last week, feeder steers under 500 pounds unevenly steady on comparable sales, a lower undertone on 300 to 400 pounds over 500 pounds were $3 to $6 higher. Heifers were mostly $1 to $3 higher except 300 to 400 pounds were steady. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Trade was active, demand good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows were 6% of the offering, slaughter bulls 2%, bred cows 4%, pairs 1%, feeders 87%. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 55% of the run; heifers 45%, feeder steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 57%.

Stocker and feeder cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 3, young 750 to 1050 lbs., 73.00 to 82.00; young to middle aged, 780 to 1400 lbs., 1 to 8 months bred 76.00 to 89.50; few aged, 725 to 1200 lbs., 3 to 8 months bred 74.00 to 83.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young 900 to 1290 lbs., 3 to 8 months bred 1000.00 to 1310.00/head, young 835 to 855 lbs., 3 to 8 months bred 900.00 to 935.00/head; middle aged, 1103 to 1315 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred 1075.00 to 1135.00/head; aged, 880 to 1045 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred 800.00 to 885.00/head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young, 975 to 1175 lbs., with 150- to 300-lb. calves 1200.00 to 1400.00/head.
