North Arkansas livestock auction report

The North Arkansas Livestock, Green Forest, Ark., reported receipts of 491 head Feb. 19, compared to 210 head last week and 1,265 head last year, according to the Arkansas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Little Rock, Ark.

Compared to last week, slaughter cows and bulls were nearly steady on a light test. Feeders were mostly steady to $5 higher, instances were $10 higher than last weeks light test. The supply included about 315 feeder calves, 128 feeder yearlings, 15 replacement cows, 25 slaughter cows, and 9 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply included 39% steers, 45% heifers, and 17% bulls, with nearly 31% of the run weighed over 600 pounds. Prices follow with weighted average price in parenthesis.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 76.00 to 79.50; high dressing, 84.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 70.00 to 75.00; high dressing, 83.50; low dressing, 61.00 to 63.00. Light, 85 to 92% lean, 700 to 950 lbs., 73.00; high dressing, 81.50; low dressing, 60.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 92.00 to 99.00; high dressing, 100.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 6 to 10 years old, 1000 to 1200 lbs., with 100- to 300-lb. calves 900.00 to 1300.00/pair, few.
