North Arkansas livestock auction report

The North Arkansas Livestock, Green Forest, Ark., reported receipts of 677 head March 20, compared to 833 head last week and 662 head last year, according to the Arkansas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Little Rock, Ark.

Compared to last week, slaughter cows were $1 to $3 lower. Slaughter bulls were steady. Feeders were mostly $2 to $8 lower, instances were $10 to $12 lower. The supply included about 440 feeder calves, 100 feeder yearlings, 30% replacement cows, 95 slaughter cows, and 12 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply included 40% steers, 40% heifers, and 19% bulls, with nearly 18% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 77.00 to 79.00; high dressing, 82.00 to 85.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 75.00 to 82.00; high dressing, 83.00 to 88.00; low dressing, 72.00 to 74.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 71.00 to 79.00; high dressing, 79.00 to 87.25; low dressing, 60.00 to 68.00. Light. 85 to 92% lean, 700 to 950 lbs., 60.00 to 68.00; high dressing, 70.00 to 76.50; low dressing, 57.00 to 60.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 90.00 to 99.00; high dressing, 100.50 to 109.50; low dressing, 80.00 to 86.00.
