Tulia livestock auction report


The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 2,557 head March 14, compared to 2,254 head last week and 2,289 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers sold $1 to $4 lower. Trade activity was fairly active on moderate to good demand. The offering included many loads of yearlings weighing 700 to 900 pounds coming off of local wheat pastures. Slaughter cows were mostly steady on a light test and slaughter bulls were not well tested. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 1%, less than 1% replacements and 98% feeders. The feeder supply consisted of 57% steers and bulls, 43% heifers, with nearly 89% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 170.00 to 175.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 168.50 to 171.50; 600 to 650 lbs., 154.25 to 154.50; 650 to 700 lbs., 143.50 to 149.75, few 693 lbs., calves, 140.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 142.00 to 142.50; 750 to 800 lbs., 134.25 to 140.00, calves 132.50 to 133.50; 800 to 900 lbs., 127.50 to 133.50; 900 to 1000 lbs., 123.00 to 128.25; 1000 to 1050 lbs., 122.25 to 122.75. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 550 to 600 lbs., 153.00 to 156.75; 600 to 650 lbs., 146.00 to 149.00; few 658 lbs., calves, 140.00; couple loads 718 lbs., 139.50 to 143.75; 800 to 900 lbs., 125.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 550 to 600 lbs., 137.50 to 150.00; few 674 lbs., 137.50; few 755 lbs., 115.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, few 425 lbs., 169.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 138.00 to 150.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 133.00 to 136.50; 650 to 700 lbs., 129.00 to 133.75; 700 to 750 lbs., 130.50 to 133.00, lot 737 lbs., calves, 128.50; 750 to 800 lbs., 122.50 to 128.25; 800 to 850 lbs., 119.00 to 123.00; few 902 lbs., 117.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 450 to 500 lbs., 153.50 to 156.25; 550 to 600 lbs., 135.00; 600 to 675 lbs., 125.00 to 130.00; few 700 to 800 lbs., 123.00 to 124.00. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, few 641 lbs., 118.50.

Slaughter cows: Breaking, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1700 lbs., 83.00; high dressing, 84.00 to 87.50; low dressing, 74.00 to 78.00. Boning, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1400 lbs., 83.50 to 86.50; low dressing, 78.00 to 82.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1300 lbs., 80.00 to 80.50; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 71.00 to 75.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, high dressing, 1935 to 1990 lbs., 105.50 to 107.00; low dressing, 1695 to 1710 lbs., 93.50 to 99.50.

Bred cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young individual, 1000 lbs., 6 to 9 months bred, 800.00/head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young individual, 800 lbs., with 75-lb. calf, 1210.00/pair.
