Pratt livestock auction report

The Pratt Livestock Feeder Cattle Auction, Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 6,614 head March 14, compared to 5,798 head last week and 7,422 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, steers at 700 to 750 pounds were steady to $2 higher on a limited test, 750 to 900 pounds were $2 to $4 lower, and 900 to 1,000 pounds were $3 to $5 lower. Heifers at 600 to 700 pounds were steady to weak, 700 to 950 pounds were $2 to $4 lower, few sales 750 to 800 pounds were firm to $2 higher. Steers at 700 pounds and under also heifers 600 pounds and under were in a limited supply steady. Trade and demand were moderate. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Receipts included 92% 600 pounds and over, 6% 600 pounds and under, 2% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply was 54% steers and 46% heifers.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 80.50 to 81.00; low dressing, 78.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 81.00 to 85.50; high dressing, 86.00; low dressing, 76.50 to 80.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 80.00 to 86.50; high dressing, 88.00; low dressing, 73.00 to 79.50. Light Lean, 66.00 to 70.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 100.50 to 104.50; high dressing, 108.00 to 110.00; low dressing, 91.00 to 98.00.
