Texas direct feeder cattle summary

The Texas Weekly Direct Feeder Cattle Summary, reported receipts of 28,800 head March 15, compared to 34,100 head last week and 22,100 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week the current FOB feeder steers and heifers were $1 to $4 lower with the most decline on weights below 800 pounds which had been relatively steady to firm last week. Approximately 98% of this week's cattle weighed over 600 pounds. Approximately 50% of this week's weighted average receipts were steers and 50% heifers. Price, based on net weights FOB after a 3% shrink or equivalent and 5 to 10 cent slide on calves and 4 to 6 cent slide on yearlings from base weights. Delivered price, include freight, commissions and other expenses. Current sales are up to 14 days delivery.

Steers: 14,200 head, 50%, Medium and large frame 1 FOB Price, 700 to 750 lbs., 138.00 to 140.00; 750 to 800 lbs., 132.75 to 141.00; 800 to 850 lbs., 128.00 to 137.00. Delivered price,750 to 800 lbs., 137.45 to 141.50; 800 to 850 lbs., 131.00 to 140.00; 850 to 900 lbs., 132.70. Future delivery, FOB Price, 600 to 700 lbs., 138.30 to 147.50 April to May; 750 to 800 lbs., 141.00 to 143.45 April to May. Delivered price, 800 lbs., 140.50 to 150.65 June to September. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, FOB Price, 600 to 700 lbs., 142.00 to 150.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 134.80 to 136.95; 800 lbs., 133.00. Delivered price, 700 to 800 lbs., 137.00 to 142.00; 800 to 850 lbs., 131.00 to 135.25. Future delivery, FOB Price, 700 to 800 lbs., 143.00 to 150.50 April to August; 800 to 850 lbs., 138.15 to 143.60 April to June. Delivered price, 700 to 800 lbs., 142.50 to 145.30 May.

Heifers: 14,200 head, 50%, Medium and large frame 1, FOB Price, 650 to 700 lbs., 130.75 to 134.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 126.00 to 133.85.Delivered price, 650 to 700 lbs., 135.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 127.00 to 138.35.
