San Angelo livestock auction report

The San Angelo Producers Livestock Auction Report, San Angelo, Texas, reported estimated receipts of 1,735 head March 14, compared to 598 head last week and 1,271 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, San Angelo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers were firm, heifers were firm to $1 higher. Slaughter cows were weak to $1 lower and slaughter bulls were steady. Stock cows and pairs were firm to moderately higher. Trading was fairly higher, demand was good. Quality was more attractive than last week. The supply included 10% slaughter cows, 2% slaughter bulls, 68% feeders, 20% stock cows and pairs. The feeders were 50% steers and bulls, 30% weighed over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 205.00 to 224.00; 420 lbs., 192.50; 500 to 550 lbs., 165.00 to 166.00; 600 to 625 lbs., 147.00 to 152.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 135.00 to 136.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 390 lbs., 191.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 174.00 to 184.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 152.00 to 161.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 135.00 to 145.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 127.00 to 131.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 120.50 to 123.00. Medium and large frame 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 150.00 to 182.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 160.00 to 171.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 145.00 to 151.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 123.00 to 136.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 121.00 to 127.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 2, 700 to 825 lbs., 110.00 to 117.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 349 lbs., 190.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 166.00 to 177.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 140.00 to 152.00; 611 lbs., 140.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 121.00 to 124.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 175.00 to 181.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 149.00 to 160.00; 500 to 700 lbs., 130.00 to 140.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 113.00 to 118.50. Medium and large frame 2, 293 lbs., 167.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 131.00 to 149.00; 500 to 700 lbs., 112.00 to 129.00; 700 to 900 lbs., 101.00 to 106.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1300 to 1550 lbs., 73.50 to 80.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 900 to 1475 lbs., 80.50 to 88.50; low dressing, 79.00 to 81.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 850 to 1150 lbs., 76.50 to 81.00; low dressing, 72.00 to 77.00; 85 to 90% lean, 600 to 900 lbs., 66.00 to 73.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1, 1400 to 2100 lbs., 100.50 to 107.00; high dressing, 110.00; low dressing, 1100 to 1650 lbs., 91.00 to 99.00.

Stock cows and heifers: Pregnancy tested, all sold by the head, Medium and large frame 1, 1410.00 to 1700.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 1125.00 to 1350.00. Medium and large frame 2, 875.00 to 1100.00.

Pairs: All sold by the pair. All have 200- to 450-lb. calves. Medium and large frame 1, 1500.00 to 1550.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 1200.00 to 1475.00. Medium and large frame 2, 1075.00 to 1200.00.

Stocker and feeder cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young, 800 to 1000 lbs., no test; young and middle age, 900 to 1100 lbs., 90.00 to 99.00 cwt; middle age, 900 to 1300 lbs., 85.00 to 89.50 cwt; thin and or aged, 800 to 1200 lbs., 78.00 to 85.00 cwt.

Breeding bulls: 1475.00 to 2700.00/head.
