Clovis livestock auction report

The Clovis Livestock Auction, Clovis, N.M., reported receipts to 2,319 head March 6, compared to 904 head last week and 2,719 head last year, according to the USDA-New Mexico Department of Agriculture Market News, Clovis, N.M.

Compared to last month, Holstein steers did not have enough comparable sales for an adequate comparison. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers under 550 pounds were steady to $1 higher, over 550 pounds were $1 to $3 lower. Slaughter cows were steady and bulls were $2 higher. Trade was active, demand good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows 8% of the offering, slaughter bulls 2%, bred cows 12%, pairs 3%, feeders 75%. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 58% of the run, Holstein steers 7%, feeder bulls 3%, heifers 32%, feeder steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 32%.
