Grain, soybean bids higherGrain and soybean bids traded higher as the dollar was lower, according to the National Grain Market Summary, March 11. Corn saw additional gains from support carried over from the March 9 U.S. Department of Agriculture report. Soybeans ended in positive territory despite lower than expected export inspections. Wheat was mostly 1 to 7 cents higher. Corn was 5 to 8 cents higher. Sorghum was 13 to 14 cents higher. Soybeans were 8 to 12 cents higher. Grains inspected for export for week ending March 7: Wheat totaled 27.9 million bushels, up 3.0 million bushels; corn 14.4 million bushels, down 1.8 million bushels; sorghum 1.1 million bushels, down 600 thousand bushels and soybeans 17.1 million bushels, down 23.2 million bushels compared to a week ago. Year to date: Wheat totaled 721.2 down 54.2 million; corn 379.1 down 495.4 million; sorghum 46.6 million up 11.5 million, and soybeans 1164.5 up 229.7 million. Crop marketing years begin June 1 for wheat and Sept. 1 for corn, sorghum, and soybeans. In the futures close, Kansas City May wheat was $7.36 1/4, up 2 cents. Terminal wheat bids, paid for truck delivery, included Kansas City, $7.01 to $7.06, up 3 to 7 cents; Minneapolis, $8.34, up 2 cents; Portland, $8.65 to $8.70, up 12 to 3 cents; St. Louis, $7.27, up 3 cents. Terminal corn bids, U.S. No. 2 yellow, price paid for truck deliver, included: Kansas City, $7.58 to $7.59, up 7 cents; Minneapolis, $7.17 3/4, up 6 3/4 cents; southern Iowa, unavailable; Omaha, $7.45 to $7.51, up 5 to 7 cents. Terminal soybean bids, U.S. No. 1, price paid for truck delivery, included: Kansas City, $15.33, up 9 cents; Minneapolis, $14.79 1/2, up 12 1/2 cents; southern Iowa, unavailable; central Illinois processors, $15.24 1/2 to $15.29 1/2, up 8 1/2 to 10 1/2 cents. Kansas City wheat prices March 12, spot, fob track, included: No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, $7.95 1/4 to $8.48 1/4, down 1 to 6 cents; 12% protein, $8.40 1/4 to $8.60 1/4, down 6 cents; 13% protein, $8.45 1/4 to $8.60 1/4, down 6 cents; 14% protein, $8.45 1/4 to $8.60 1/4, down 6 cents.
