Chemigation, pesticide training scheduled

Nebraska

Private pesticide safety training and chemigation certification will take place at the Crossroads Wesleyan Church, 1710 Wesley Drive, Imperial, Neb. Pesticide training will start at 1 p.m. MT and chemigation certification will take place at 5:30 p.m. MT.

There is a $30 per person training cost for initial or renewal pesticide certification. Checks are preferred, made out to University of Nebraska-Lincoln, due to new accounting regulations. Please bring both copies of the letter sent by the Nebraska Department of Agriculture if you are renewing your certification. If you received no letter, forms will be available to renew or certify for the first time.

Following the certification meeting or the completion of the self-study course the information is sent to the Nebraska Department of Agriculture that you completed pesticide training. Once you have completed training you need to become licensed. To become licensed you will receive a billing statement from the Nebraska Department of Agriculture for their license fee. The cost for a three-year private applicator license is $25. After the NDA receives your payment you will be issued a license. You will not be considered licensed to apply pesticides until the license has been issued the NDA.

Please bring a calculator to use during the training and testing. We will provide all new printed materials for you at the beginning of the session. If you already have a copy of the new chemigation notebook, please review it prior to the training session. Training and testing will take approximately 3 hours. There are no fees for the chemigation program.

If weather problems occur on the day of training, cancellation announcements will be on KADL, Imperial and KICX and KIOD, McCook. Additional information is available from the Chase County Extension Office, 308-882-4731.
