Extension to host Youth Lawn Mowing Clinic

The Youth Lawn Mowing Clinic will be held at the Sedgwick County Extension Education Center at 21st and Ridge (7001 W 21st N) in Wichita on March 20 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. This clinic is designed to assist youth in earning summer income by mowing lawns. Cost is $10 at the door.
Information will acquaint youth with lawn grasses and their proper care. In addition, the training will acquaint youth with knowledge of lawn mower safety and mower maintenance.
The clinic is for boys and girls in the fifth through ninth grades in school who want to earn summer income or gain lawn mower safety knowledge.
Two sessions will be offered. Session 1 will run from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and Session 2 will run from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Each session will cover:
--Safe Use of Power Mowers;
--Lawn Mower Maintenance; and
--Obtaining a Lawn Mowing Job.
Upon attendance for all training sessions, each youth will receive an information packet, business cards and certificate.
