Cattleman elected chairman of ASA Board

Jessie Driggers, Glennville, Ga., has been elected as chairman of the Board of Trustees of the American Simmental Association. Driggers succeeds Bill McDonald, Blacksburg, Va.

Driggers runs a fall and spring calving herd of registered Simmental and SimAngus cattle. His bulls are marketed primarily in the Southeast to commercial breeders private treaty. In 2003, he was called to active duty in Iraq as a member of the 165th Airlift Group of the Georgia National Guard, which he has been in for 22 years. He now works full time operating the Tattnall Air Force Space Surveillance Station under a civilian contractor.

Driggers was formally seated during ASA's 45th Annual Meeting held Jan. 19 in Denver, Colo. Also seated were Vice Chairman Jim Butcher, Lewistown, Mont.; and Treasurer Jimmy Holliman, Marion Junction, Ala. Rounding out ASA's five-member Executive Committee are Bob Lanting, Twin Falls, Idaho; and Dale Miller, Gildford, Mont.
