North Arkansas livestock auction report


The North Arkansas Livestock, Green Forest, Ark., reported receipts of 942 head March 7, compared to 1,122 head last year, according to the Arkansas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Little Rock, Ark.

Compared to last week, there were no trends due to weather closing. The supply included about 500 feeder calves, 267 feeder yearlings, 40 replacement cows, 119 slaughter cows, and 16 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply included 32% steers, 48% heifers, and 21% bulls, with nearly 35% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 76.00 to 82.50; high dressing, 83.00 to 89.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 69.00 to 85.00; high dressing, 86.00 to 97.00; low dressing, 74.00 to 75.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 72.00 to 80.00; high dressing, 82.00 to 88.50; low dressing, 63.00 to 70.00. Light, 85 to 92% lean, 700 to 950 lbs., 61.00 to 70.50; low dressing, 52.00 to 60.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 90.00 to 98.00; high dressing, 102.00 to 104.00; low dressing, 85.00 to 90.00.
