Lexington livestock auction report

The Lexington Livestock Market, Lexington, Neb., reported receipts of 3,900 head March 1, compared to 2,190 head two weeks ago and 3,575 head last year, according to the Nebraska Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Kearney, Neb.

Compared to two weeks ago, steers under 650 pounds sold steady to $3 higher, with the most advance on grass type offerings. Weights over 650 pounds sold steady to $2 lower. Heifers sold unevenly steady to $2 lower with the most decline on weights over 750 pounds. Demand was good on grassers and replacement females with light to moderate demand on feedlot placements, especially ones carrying a little extra flesh. The offering was comprised of 54% steers with nearly 79% of the supply over 600 pounds.
