High Plains slaughter news report

High Plains weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales for the week ending March 3, totaled 111,585 head, compared to 86,591 head last week and 146,960 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, St. Joseph, Mo.

The report was based on sales in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 4,722 head, 1,250 to 1,530 lbs., 126.00 to 129.00 (127.52); 65 to 80% Choice, 9,054 head, 1,250 to 1,575 lbs., 124.00 to 129.00 (127.69); 35 to 65% Choice, 12,061 head, 1,150 to 1,470 lbs., 126.50 to 129.00 (128.04).
