Colorado feeder cattle auction report

The Colorado Auction Feeder Cattle Summary, Greeley, Colo., reported receipts of 1,084 head March 1, compared to 4,003 head last week and 3,563 head last year, according to the USDA-Colorado Department of Agriculture Market News, Greeley, Colo.

Compared to last week, steers weighing 350 to 550 pounds traded mostly $1 to $6 higher, there were not enough comparable sales on steers over 600 pounds for and adequate market test however a lower undertone was noted. Heifers weighing 300 to 700 pounds on limited comparable sales, traded unevenly steady. Trading activity was moderate on moderate demand. The supply consisted of 56% steers and 44% heifers, with 32% feeders over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 355 to 400 lbs., 201.00 to 204.00; 405 to 450 lbs., 189.00 to 201.00; 460 to 480 lbs., 181.00 to 190.00; 505 to 535 lbs., 162.00 to 170.00, thin fleshed 174.50; 550 to 590 lbs., 154.00 to 163.00; 711 lbs., 140.00; 750 lbs., 137.00; 837 lbs., 134.00; 877 lbs., 128.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 406 lbs., 182.00; 475 to 495 lbs., 174.00 to 176.00; 520 to 545 lbs., 154.00 to 158.00; 734 lbs., 133.00; 897 fleshy 121.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 330 to 345 lbs., 173.00; 370 to 400 lbs., 171.00 to 175.00; 400 to 445 lbs., 161.00 to 166.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 151.00 to 160.00; 500 to 545 lbs., 140.00 to 147.00; 600 to 635 lbs., 134.50 to 138.00; 691 lbs., 128.50; 719 lbs., full 128.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 403 lbs., 157.00; 475 to 500 lbs., 141.00 to 149.00.
