Meadowlark Extension to hold wheat variety plot tour

June 5 is the date selected for this year’s Meadowlark Extension District Wheat Variety Plot Tour at the farm of Doug and Leonard Edelman. The tour will begin at 9 a.m. at the plot site located 4.5 miles west of Sabetha on 192nd Road. Plot signs will be posted on the north side of the road.

This year’s plot includes 12 entries from the newest public domain to the familiar Karl 92. Stu Duncan, Northeast Area KSU crops and soils specialist, will be on hand to give a “state of the wheat crop” address as well as discuss the plot entries and evaluate how they’ve stood up to this year’s drought, disease, and insect pressure.

Refreshments will be served at 9 a.m. and they are sponsored by the Kansas Wheat Alliance and Syngenta Seed, Cereal Division. Appreciation is also expressed to the companies submitting entries and to Sabetha Ag Partners Co-op for assistance with planting and harvest.
