Ft. Smith livestock auction report

The Ft. Smith Livestock, Ft. Smith, Ark., reported receipts of 375 head June 17, compared to 635 head last week and 652 head last year, according to the Arkansas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Little Rock, Ark.

Compared to last week, slaughter cows were $2 to $4 higher. Slaughter bulls were $1.50 lower. Feeder steers were steady to $9 higher. Feeder heifers were $2 to $7 higher. The supply included 130 feeder calves, 152 feeder yearlings, 21 replacement cows, 56 slaughter cows, 5 slaughter bulls, and 7 replacement bulls. The feeder supply consisted of about 40% English breed and English crosses, 30% Exotic breed and Exotic crosses, 30% Brahman and Brahman crosses, and 0% Holsteins and other dairy breeds. The feeder supply included about 55% steers and bulls with 45% heifers.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 73.00 to 77.50; high dressing, 78.00 to 82.50; low dressing, 68.00 to 72.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 79.00 to 83.50; high dressing, 84.00 to 88.00; low dressing, 74.00 to 78.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 75.00 to 79.50; high dressing, 80.00 to 84.00; low dressing, 68.00 to 72.50. Light, 85 to 92% lean, 700 to 950 lbs., 63.00 to 67.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 95.00 to 100.00; low dressing, 84.00 to 93.00.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1 310 to 335 lbs., 172.00 to 185.00 (180.37); 400 to 445 lbs., 154.00 to 163.00 (159.08); 450 to 460 lbs., 154.00 to 161.00 (157.59); 505 to 545 lbs., 143.00 to 149.00 (145.78); 550 to 560 lbs., 135.00 to 142.00 (138.72); 605 to 640 lbs., 131.00 to 137.00 (134.06); 652 to 695 lbs., 127.50 to 133.00 (129.89); 700 to 705 lbs., 128.00 to 129.00 (128.50). Medium and large frame 2, 365 to 395 lbs., 159.00 to 161.00 (159.68); 465 to 490 lbs., 140.00 to 152.00 (147.82); 527 to 545 lbs., 140.00 (140.00); 565 to 580 lbs., 135.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 6 to 7 years old, 800 to 950 lbs., with 200- to 250-lb. calves, 1350.00 to 1375.00/pair.
