MCA's 31st annual All-Breeds Junior Show concludes

The Missouri Cattlemen’s Association and the Missouri Junior Cattlemen’s Association had its 31st Annual MCA All-Breeds Junior Show June 7 to 9, at the Missouri State Fairgrounds in Sedalia, Mo., and participation surpassed the previous year, according to Katie Steen, director of membership.

“We had about 275 juniors and more than 500 cattle at this year’s show,” Steen said. “It is always exciting to see the show grow and improve.”

The show concluded June 9 with the judges selecting the overall champion steer and heifer. Cole Murphy of Houstonia, Mo., exhibited the overall grand champion steer and Carter Ward of Plattsburg, Mo., exhibited the overall grand champion heifer.

“These young people are the future of our industry and MCA was very pleased with the turnout and the quality of people and cattle representing this industry,” said MCA President Chuck Massengill. “It always impresses me the work that these young agriculturist put into their livestock projects.”

The three-day event began June 7 with a team fitting contest and a photography contest. This year’s team fitting contest winners were Kylea Ingram, Huntsville, Mo.; Brittany Eagleburger, Buffalo, Mo.; and Cooper and Mardee Sadowsky, Eagleville, Mo. The photography contest junior division winner was Isaac Rhode, Gower, Mo., and the senior division Brittany Eagleburger, Buffalo, Mo.

The 32nd Annual MCA All-Breeds Junior Show will be June 6 to 8, 2014.
