Tulsa livestock auction report


The Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 1,907 head July 1, compared to 2,190 head last week and 1,344 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were steady in a light test. Steer calves were mostly steady in a light test. Heifers were steady to $3 lower. Demand was moderate to good, especially for 4 and 5 weight steers. Quality mostly average, however supply did include several reputation brand calves and these sold to very good demand. The supply included 40% over 600 pounds, 40% heifers. Slaughter cows were steady to $2 higher. Slaughter bulls were steady. Packer demand was moderate. A total of 285 cows and bulls sold with 96% going to packers.

Lean, 111 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1375 lbs., 75.00 to 78.00; high dressing, 79.00 to 83.00; low dressing, 70.50 to 74.00. Light, 5 head, 80 to 90% lean, 750 to 1000 lbs., 67.00 to 70.00; high dressing, 71.00 to 74.00; low dressing, 64.00 to 67.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 17 head, 1400 to 2200 lbs., 95.50 to 99.00; high dressing, 102.00 to 104.50; low dressing, 86.00 to 93.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 8 to 10 years old, 1200 to 1400 lbs., 4 to 8 months bred, average quality 1135.00.
