Joplin regional cattle sales report

The Carthage Joplin Regional Stockyards, Joplin, Mo., reported receipts of 5,184 head July 22, compared to 5,182 head last week and 3,680 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steer calves 400-550 lbs. 5.00 to 10.00 higher, steers over 550 lbs. steady, except 700 weights steady to 2.00 higher, heifer calves and yearling heifers steady. Demand good, supply moderate. The bulk of the calves were weighing over 500 lbs.. The USDA Cattle On Feed report showed 3 percent less on feed compared to a year ago, 4 percent less marketed, and 5 percent less replacements. Rain showers across the trade area providing some much needed moisture. The feeder supply included 49 percent steers, 46 percent heifers, 04 percent bulls, with 68 percent over 600 lbs..
