Downy mildew samples needed

Downy mildew is caused by a soilborne pathogen that can survive for many years in the soil. No management tools are effective once downy mildew infection occurs. However, genetic resistance and seed treatments may help manage downy mildew in future sunflower crops. Tom Gulya, USDA-Agricultural Research Service, is conducting a survey to monitor the downy mildew pathogen for race changes and fungicide sensitivity. If you observe downy mildew in your field and would like to contribute to the survey, submit samples to the following address: Dr. Tom Gulya, Research Plant Pathologist, USDA, ARS, NCSL, 1307 18th St N, Fargo, ND 58102-2765. Please send leaves with cottony growth in a paper bag (no plastic), soon after collecting.
