Clovis livestock auction summary

The Clovis Livestock Auction Summary to Clovis, N.M., reported receipts of 1,415 head Dec. 19, compared to 2,160 head last week and 1,103 head last year, according to the New Mexico Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Clovis, N.M.

Compared to last week, feeder steers were steady to $2 higher. Heifers under 500 pounds were steady to $1 higher, over 500 pounds were $4 to $5 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls were $1 higher. Trade was active and demand good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows were 15% of the offering, slaughter bulls 3%, bred cows 7%, pairs less than 1%, feeders 75%. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 45% of the run, feeder bulls 3%, heifers 52%, feeder steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 25%.

Stocker and feeder cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young, 865 to 1040 lbs., 70.00 to 79.50; few middle-aged to aged, 725 to 830 lbs., 61.50 to 69.00; young to middle-aged, 955 to 1295 lbs., 1 to 8 months bred, 70.50 to 80.50; individual 1160 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred, 94.00; aged 865 to 1270 lbs., 3 to 8 months bred, 66.00 to 74.50, few 80.50 to 83.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young, 890 to 1235 lbs., 3 to 8 months bred, 800.00 to 1075.00/head; package middle-aged, 1120 lbs., 3 to 6 months bred, 800.00/head; aged, 780 to 1115 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred, 625.00 to 925.00/head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young 780 to 1200 lbs., with 100- to 400-lb. calves, 975.00 to 1260.00/pair.
