Grains end week with slight to modest gains

Grains ended the week with slight to modest gains, according to the National Grain Market Summary, Dec. 28.

With little fresh news for the grain markets grain traders headed to the sidelines for the weekend with little buying interest.

Wheat closed 3 to 6 cents higher. Corn traded 2 to 3 cents higher. Soybeans closed 4 to 6 cents higher.

In the futures close, Kansas City March wheat was $8.26, up 2 3/4 cents.

Terminal wheat bids, paid for truck delivery, included Kansas City, $7.81 to $7.86, up 3 cents; Minneapolis, $8.82 3/4, up 3 cents; Portland, $8.40 to $8.57, up 2 3/4 to 9 3/4 cents; St. Louis, $7.68, up 6 cents.

Terminal corn bids, U.S. No. 2 yellow, price paid for truck deliver, included: Kansas City, $7.21 to $7.26, up 2 cents; Minneapolis, $6.68, up 2 1/2 cents; southern Iowa, $6.83 to $6.99, up 2 1/2 cents; Omaha, $7.20 to $7.22, up 2 to 3 cents.

Terminal soybean bids, U.S. No. 1, price paid for truck delivery, included: Kansas City, $14.64, up 5 cents; Minneapolis, no bids; southern Iowa, $14.12 to $14.17, up 6 1/4 to 5 1/4 cents; central Illinois processors, $14.38 to $14.49, up 4 1/4 to 5 1/4 cents.

Kansas City wheat prices Dec. 28, spot, fob track, included: No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, $8.71 to $9.21, up 2 3/4 cents; 12% protein, $9.31 to $9.41, up 12 3/4 to 8 3/4 cents; 13% protein, $9.26 to $9.41, up 8 3/4 cents; 14% protein, $9.26 to $9.41, up 8 3/4 cents. U.S. No. 2 soft red winter wheat was unavailable. U.S. No. 2 white corn was $7.86 to $7.96, unchanged.
