Grain market closeThe USDA Market News Service, Greeley, Colo., in the closing grain report for Dec. 28, reported in futures trading that Chicago March soft red winter wheat was $7.78 3/4, up 6 1/2 cents; March corn, $6.94, up 2 1/2 cents; and January soybeans, $14.24, up 5 1/4 cents. The export bid for direct Gulf delivery of No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, rail, $9.01 to $9.11, up 2 3/4 cents; No. 2 soft red winter wheat, barge, $8.48 3/4 to $8.53 3/4, up 6 1/2 cents; No. 2 yellow corn, barge, $7.44 to $7.54, up 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 cents; No. 2 yellow sorghum, rail, $12.03 1/2 to $12.75, up 4 1/2 cents; No. 2 yellow sorghum, barge, unavailable; and No. 2 yellow soybeans, barge, $15.32 to $15.36, up 5 1/4 cents. Colby, Kan., unit train wheat bid was $7.74. In Denver and the surrounding area, hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, was $7.56 to $8.21. No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, northwest Colorado was mostly 3 cents higher. In north central Colorado, wheat was $7.56 to $8.01. In northeast Colorado, wheat was $7.41 to $7.52. In east central Colorado, wheat was $7.43 to $7.71. In southeast Colorado, wheat was $7.58 to $7.81. In south central Colorado, wheat was $6.90. In southwest Nebraska and southeast Wyoming, wheat bids were $7.55 to $7.61. No. 2 yellow corn in north central Colorado was mostly 2 to 3 cents higher and $6.76 to $7.29 per bushel. In northeast Colorado, the country elevator corn bids were $6,84 to $7.04. In east central Colorado, corn was $6.94 to $7.06. In southeast Colorado, corn was $7.27 to $7.23. In southwest Nebraska and southeast Wyoming, corn bids were $6.79 to $6.87 per bushel. No. 2 yellow sorghum in southeast Colorado was 4 cents higher at $11.95 to $12.04 per cwt. No. 1 yellow soybeans in southwest Nebraska were 5 cents higher at $13.54 to $13.64 per bushel. White millet in Colorado, southwest Nebraska and southeast Wyoming was $31 to $37.50 per cwt., mostly $36 to $37.50. Sunflowers were $24 to $26 cwt. In Denver and surrounding areas, corn was $6.76 to $7.24 per bushel. Barley was steady at $13. Dry edible bean daily grower bids will not be released again until Jan. 7. Date: 1/7/2013
