North Arkansas livestock auction report

The North Arkansas Livestock Auction, Green Forest, Ark., reported receipts of 189 head Jan. 2, compared to 2,329 head last year, according to the Arkansas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Little Rock, Ark.

Compared to two weeks ago, slaughter cows and bulls were $2 to $3 higher. Not enough feeders for a trend in most classes with a few classes steady on a light test. The supply included about 100 feeder yearlings, 40 feeder yearlings, 10 replacement cows, 28 slaughter cows, 1 replacement bull, and 10 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply included 30% steers, 49% heifers, and 21% bulls, with nearly 29% of the run weighed over 600 pounds. Prices follow with weighted average price in parenthesis.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 75.00 to 78.50; high dressing, 82.00 to 84.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 69.00 to 75.00; high dressing, 77.00 to 83.00; low dressing, 59.00 to 60.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 88.00 to 91.50; high dressing, 93.00 to 94.00.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 365 to 395 lbs., 180.00 to 185.00 (181.58); 432 to 435 lbs., 171.00 to 177.00 (173.26); 499 lbs., 163.00; 530 to 549 lbs., 159.00 to 161.50 (159.81); 558 lbs., 56.00; 617 lbs., 147.50. Medium and large frame 2, 410 lbs., 160.00 to 169.00 (164.50); 710 lbs., 137.00. Holstein Large frame 3, 558 lbs., 94.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 318 to 343 lbs., 150.00 to 159.50 (154.89); 355 to 385 lbs., 150.00 to 155.00 (151.59); 415 lbs., 148.00 to 150.00 (149.00); 459 to 498 lbs., 140.00 to 150.00 (146.85); 500 to 548 lbs., 137.50 to

140.00 (138.57); 565 to 588 lbs., 134.00 to 135.00 (134.32); 680 to 690 lbs., 125.00 to 130.00 (127.48); 700 to 700 lbs., 132.00 (132.00); 815 to 830 lbs., 110.00 to 116.50 (113.22). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 671 lbs., 126.00. Medium and large frame 2, 372 lbs., 145.00. 400 to 440 lbs., 132.00 to 145.00 (140.42); 460 to 475 lbs., 130.00 to 139.00 (134.43); 505 to 510 lbs., 135.00 to 139.00 (136.99); 825 lbs., 94.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 458 to 465 lbs., 157.00 to 165.00 (159.77); 522 lbs., 156.00; 555 to 570 lbs., 144.50 to 154.00 (148.59); 650 to 680 lbs., 130.50 to 143.00 (136.61). Medium and large frame 2, 450 to 475 lbs., 135.00 to 158.00 (146.81); 560 to 590 lbs., 141.00 to 145.00 (142.95).

Replacement bull: 1+ year old 1120 lbs., 1140.00/head.

Replacement cows: Pre-tested for bangs; pregnancy; and age. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 to 7 years old, 900 to lbs., 1300 lbs., second and third stage 900.00 to 1140.00/head.
