Tulsa livestock auction report

The Tulsa Livestock Auction, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 3,091 head Jan. 21, compared to 1,690 head last week and 2,325 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were $3 to $5 lower. Steer calves under 500 pounds were steady to $5 higher over 500 pounds were steady $3 lower. Heifer calves were steady to $5 lower, except 3 weights were $10 lower. Thin fleshed and weaned calves in good demand. The supply included 18% over 600 pounds with 41% heifers. Slaughter cows and bulls were $2 to $3 higher, except breakers were steady. A total of 422 cows and bulls sold with 52% going to packers.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 to 3 years old, 750 to 1050 lbs., with 100- to 125-lb. calves, average quality 1125.00 to 1350.00; 2 to 4 years old, 900 to 1100 lbs., with 100- to 175-lb. calves, high quality 1325.00 to 1500.00.
