Tulia livestock auction report

The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 1,177 head Jan. 17, compared to 1,014 head last week and 2,036 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers sold $2 to $6 lower. Trade activity and demand were moderate to good. The offering included several loads of yearling steers weighing 700 to 850 pounds. Slaughter cows and bulls were mostly steady on a light test. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 3%, 0% replacements and 97% feeders. The feeder supply consisted of 68% steers and bulls, 32% heifers. Approximately 86% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 350 to 400 lbs., 189.00 to 199.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 160.00 to 164.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 149.00 to 153.00; few 607 lbs., calves, 145.00; 650 to 700 lbs., 146.00 to 147.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 145.00 to 148.00; 750 to 800 lbs., 143.00 to 144.50; 800 to 855 lbs., 140.00 to 141.00; few 915 lbs., 134.50 to few 950 lbs., 127.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 600 to 700 lbs., 143.00 to 145.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 139.00 to 144.50; few 837 lbs., 135.00. Medium and large frame 2, few 787 lbs., 133.00. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, few 582 lbs., 135.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, few 458 lbs., 159.00; few 678 lbs., 126.00; lot 775 lbs., 120.00; few 959 lbs., 105.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 724 lbs., 120.00; few 821 lbs., 117.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, few 356 lbs., 175.00; 400 to 425 lbs., 155.00.163.00; few 492 lbs., 149.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 139.50 to 145.00, few fleshy 135.00 to 137.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 140.00 to 144.25, few 635 lbs., 135.00; few 689 lbs., 135.00, few 681 lbs., calves, 129.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 125.00 to 130.00; few 810 lbs., 135.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 500 to 600 lbs., 132.00; few 741 lbs., 119.00. Medium and large frame 2, few 550 lbs., 130.00.

Slaughter cows: Breaking, 75 to 80% lean, 1400 to 1600 lbs., 68.50. Boning, 80 to 85% lean, 1100 to 1400 lbs., 77.00 to 81.75; high dressing, 82.00 to 84.00; low dressing, 73.50 to 74.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 75.00 to 79.50; high dressing, 82.50 to 84.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1370 to 2005 lbs., 94.00 to 98.00; low dressing, individual 1580 lbs., 87.00.
