Ogallala livestock auction reportThe Ogallala Livestock Auction Market, Ogallala, Neb., reported receipts of 6,400 head Jan. 17, compared to 6,825 head two weeks ago and 5,950 head last year, according to the USDA-Nebraska Department of Agriculture Market News, Kearney, Neb. Compared to two weeks ago, steers and heifers under 650 pounds sold unevenly steady and weights over 650 pounds sold $2 to $6 lower. Demand was light for most offerings after sharp losses for the second day in a row on the CME cattle boards. Steers accounted for 51% and heifers 49% of the offering, with 48% over 600 pounds.
