San Angelo livestock auction report


The San Angelo Producers Livestock Auction Report, San Angelo, Texas, reported estimated receipts of 1,478 head Jan. 17, compared to 343 head last week and 2,036 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, San Angelo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were $2 to $5 higher. Slaughter cows were firm, no comparison on slaughter bulls. Trading was fairly active, demand good. The supply included 5% slaughter cows, 2% slaughter bulls, 92% feeders, 1% stock cows and pairs. The feeders were 50% steers and bulls, with 40% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 207.50 to 216.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 192.00 to 200.00, few 210.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 165.00 to 179.00, few 180.00 to 191.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 154.00 to 165.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 137.00 to 141.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 200 to 250 lbs., 192.50 to 200.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 190.00 to 200.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 173.00 to 185.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 150.00 to 164.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 140.00 to 150.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 130.00 to 136.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 125.00 to 129.00. Medium and large frame 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 165.50 to 186.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 144.00 to 167.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 135.00 to 150.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 126.00 to 140.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 119.00 to 126.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 2, 550 to 600 lbs., 128.00 to 131.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 120.00 to 125.00; 700 to 950 lbs., 100.00 to 110.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 161.00 to 172.50; 500 to 550 lbs., 144.00 to 155.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 122.00 to 124.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 350 to 400 lbs., 172.00 to 180.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 147.00 to 159.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 131.00 to 143.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 129.00 to 136.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 115.00 to 119.00. Medium and large frame 2, 350 to 400 lbs., 135.00 to 138.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 132.00 to 144.00; 500 to 700 lbs., 117.00 to 130.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1300 to 1800 lbs., 69.50 to 76.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 900 to 1475 lbs., 76.50 to 83.50; high dressing, 83.50 to 86.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 850 to 1150 lbs., 72.00 to 77.00; low dressing, 65.00 to 72.50; 85 to 90% lean, 600 to 900 lbs., 50.00 to 66.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1, 1400 to 2100 lbs., 91.00 to 96.50; high dressing, 98.00 to 102.00; low dressing, 1100 to 1550 lbs., 83.00 to 91.00.

Stock cows and heifers: Pregnancy tested, all sold by the head. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 1175.00. Medium and large frame 2, 850.00 to 975.00.

Pairs: All sold by the pair. All have 100- to 350-lb. calves. Medium and large frame 2, 1050.00.

Stocker and feeder cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young, 800 to 1025 lbs., no test; young and middle age, 800 to 1150 lbs., no test; middle age, 800 to 1300 lbs.,79.00 to 85.00 cwt; thin &/or aged, 800 to 1200 lbs., 74.00 to 80.00 cwt.
