Reward offered for information about shooting of Lyon County cow

Kansas

Ray Kraus of Osage City has reported finding the remains of a 1,200-pound fall-calving black cow that had been mutilated in a Lyon County pasture. The pasture is located one mile west of Harveyville on Highway 31, then four miles south on Miller Road and three-quarters of a mile east on Road 390. Kraus and law enforcement authorities believe someone shot the cow, then took the meat and head between midnight and daylight Jan. 20.

Kansas Livestock Association is offering a reward up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for this crime. The reward is being offered because Kraus is a KLA member. Anyone with information about the person(s) committing this offense should contact the Lyon County sheriff's office at 620-342-5545.
