Dodge City cattle sales report

The Winter Livestock Feeder Cattle Auction, Dodge City, Kan., reported receipts of 3,789 head last week and 6,399 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

This was the first sale after the holiday break. Trade was very active and demand was very good. Buyers were extremely aggressive to own all weights and classes of cattle. Receipts included 76% 600 pound and over, 14% 600 pounds and under, 10% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply was 55% steers and 33% heifers.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 91.00 to 98.00; high dressing, 100.00 to 102.00; low dressing, 80.00 to 85.00.
