San Angelo livestock auction report

The San Angelo Producers Livestock Auction Report, San Angelo, Texas, reported estimated receipts of 802 head Jan. 3, compared to 582 head two weeks ago and 2,358 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, San Angelo, Texas.

Compared to two weeks ago, feeder steers and heifers were $2 to $4 higher. Slaughter cows were $2 to $4 higher, slaughter bulls were $2 to $5 higher. Stock cows and pairs were not well tested. Trading and demand were moderate. The supply included 6% slaughter cows, 2% slaughter bulls, 90% feeders, 2% stock cows and pairs. The feeders were 50% steers and bulls, with 40% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 500 to 600 lbs., 156.00 to 164.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 138.00 to 143.00; 826 lbs., 139.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400 to 500 lbs., 166.00 to 176.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 145.00 to 154.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 135.00 to 142.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 126.00 to 133.00; 800 to 825 lbs., 124.00 to 126.00. Medium and large frame 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 151.00 to 176.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 140.00 to 163.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 133.00 to 144.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 124.00 to 135.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 155.00 to 162.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 142.00 to 152.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 366 lbs., 161.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 145.00 to 154.00; 500 to 700 lbs., 130.00 to 141.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 115.00 to 117.00. Medium and large frame 2, 250 to 300 lbs., 157.00 to 158.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 147.00 to 150.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 129.00 to 143.00; 500 to 700 lbs., 116.00 to 129.00; 700 to 850 lbs., 100.00 to 111.00.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 900 to 1475 lbs., 76.00 to 81.50; high dressing, 82.00 to 84.00; low dressing, 74.00 to 74.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 850 to 1150 lbs., 72.00 to 77.50; low dressing, 67.50 to 72.00; 85 to 90% lean, 600 to 900 lbs., 64.00 to 68.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1, 1600 to 2000 lbs., 93.00 to 98.00; high dressing, 98.00 to 101.50; low dressing, 1100 to 1800 lbs., 85.00 to 91.00.

Pairs: All sold by the pair. All have 100- to 350-lb. calves. Medium and large frame 1, 1425.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 1250.00.

Stocker/feeder cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young, 800 to 1025 lbs., no test; young and middle-aged, 800 to 1150 lbs., no test; middle-aged, 800 to 1300 lbs.,77.00 to 81.50 cwt; thin and or aged, 800 to 1200 lbs., 70.50 to 82.50 cwt.
