Grain market closeThe USDA Market News Service, Greeley, Colo., in the closing grain report for Jan. 7, reported in futures trading that Chicago March soft red winter wheat was $7.51 1/4, up 4 cents; March corn, $6.85 1/2, up 5 1/4 cents; and January soybeans, $13.88 1/2, up 21 1/4 cents. The export bid for direct Gulf delivery of No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, rail, $8.92 1/2 to $9.02 1/2, up 3 cents; No. 2 soft red winter wheat, barge, $8.28 1/4 to $8.36 1/4, up 6 cents; No. 2 yellow corn, barge, $7.45 1/2 to $7.49 1/2, up 6 1/4 to 5 1/4 cents; No. 2 yellow sorghum, rail, $12.51 to $12.77 3/4, up 9 1/2 cents; No. 2 yellow sorghum, barge, $12.51 to $12.52 3/4, up 9 1/2 cents; and No. 2 yellow soybeans, barge, $14.96 1/2 to $15.03 1/2, up 9 1/2 to 2 1/2 cents. Colby, Kan., unit train wheat bid was $7.57. In Denver and the surrounding area, hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, was $7.39 to $8.04. No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, northwest Colorado was mostly 1 cent higher. In north central Colorado, wheat was $7.39 to $7.84. In northeast Colorado, wheat was $7.25 to $7.41. In east central Colorado, wheat was $7.26 to $7.54. In southeast Colorado, wheat was $7.41 to $7.64. In south central Colorado, wheat was $7.62. In southwest Nebraska and southeast Wyoming, wheat bids were $7.39 to $7.49. No. 2 yellow corn in north central Colorado was mostly 3 to 4 cents higher and $6.71 to $7.22 per bushel. In northeast Colorado, the country elevator corn bids were $6.79 to $6.99. In east central Colorado, corn was $6.89 to $7.01. In southeast Colorado, corn was $7.22 to $7.27. In southwest Nebraska and southeast Wyoming, corn bids were $6.77 to $6.89 per bushel. No. 2 yellow sorghum in southeast Colorado was 6 cents higher at $11.86 to $11.95 per cwt. No. 1 yellow soybeans in southwest Nebraska were 2 cents lower at $13.27 to $13.58 per bushel. White millet in Colorado, southwest Nebraska and southeast Wyoming was $31 to $38 per cwt., mostly $36 to $37. Sunflowers were $24 to $26 cwt. In Denver and surrounding areas, corn was $6.71 to $7.19 per bushel. Barley was steady at $13. In northeast Colorado and Nebraska, pinto beans were steady $34 to $35 per cwt; in North Dakota and Minnesota, pinto beans were $32 to $34. In North Dakota and Minnesota, black beans were steady $30 to $32. Great Northerns were steady at $40 in northeast Colorado and Nebraska. In North Dakota and Minnesota, navy beans were steady $30.
