Western Kansas Manufacturers Association, sponsor of the 12th Annual Kansas Workforce Summit, is proud to announce Apple, Inc., will present its Distinguished Program Award for Innovation, Leadership and Educational Excellence to Northwest Kansas Technical College during the Summit being held Jan. 23 and 24 at the Topeka Capitol Plaza Hotel. Dan Senstock, Apple higher education account executive for Kansas and Nebraska, will present the Innovative Program Award to Northwest Kansas Technical College during the Kansas Celebration Banquet at the Summit.
Senstock has worked with NWKTC as an industry partner in efforts toward innovation in technology. Senstock stated "the stipulations for a Distinguished Program are stringent and must convey a pedagogical transformation that truly enhances the academic focus of the institution as well as show comprehension and understanding results. What we have observed at NWKTC with its implementation of this program is tremendous, and they have become a model two-year program around the country." What makes this award even more impressive is the fact that not only is NWKTC the first Technical College to receive this award, but they are also the first to receive it two years in a row.
"The use of the iPad in education has become incredibly exciting," stated Ed Mills, NWKTC president. "The idea of using the iPad as a tool to advance the quality and relevance of teaching and learning in a technical environment holds tremendous potential for the Kansas workforce, and it certainly provides Kansas with opportunities for future collaborations with one of the world's strongest hi-tech businesses. The fact that Northwest Tech has been awarded the Apple Distinguished Program Award for a second year in a row is quite an honor," Mills continued.
Registrations to participate in the Kansas Workforce Summit are still being taken and are limited to 300 participants. For complete Summit information, visit http://www.3ishow.com/kws or contact WKMA directly toll-free at 877-405-2883 or locally at 620-227-8082.
