On Jan. 17 Edwards County K-State Research and Extension will be hosting "Keeping it in the Family: Successful Farm Transitions." The seminar will be held at the St. Nicholas School Building in Kinsley, Kan., located at 720 East 6th Street, beginning at 10 a.m.
The program will help farm families plan for transition of the operation. Topics will include estate planning, trust establishment, and gifting. Gregg Hadley, Ph.D., K-State Research and Extension assistant director of agricultural and natural resources, will headline the program. Also included in the program are Forrest Buhler, staff attorney with Kansas Mediation Services, and Charlie Griffin, project director for the Kansas Rural Family Hotline. They will be joined by Gordon Dowell, KSU Foundation; Meagan McCann, attorney at law; and Doug Stuckey, Extension agricultural economist with the Kansas Farm Management Association.
Advance registration is due by Jan.15 and will be $25 per couple with one set of printed materials and $15 dollars for an individual with printed material. The registration fees will increase $5 the day of the program.
