North Arkansas livestock auction report

The North Arkansas Livestock Auction, Green Forest, Ark., reported receipts of 707 head Jan. 30, compared to 963 head last week and 1,200 head last year, according to the Arkansas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Little Rock, Ark.

Compared to last week, slaughter cows were $1 to $2 higher. Slaughter bulls were $2 to $5 higher. Feeder steers under 500 pounds was steady to $5 higher, instances were $14 higher, over 500 pounds were $2 to $3 lower. Feeder heifers were steady to $5 higher, instances were $10 to $12 higher. The supply included about 400 feeder calves, 55 feeder yearlings, 110 replacement cows including 25 pair, 105 slaughter cows, and 22 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply included 26% steers, 60% heifers, and 15% bulls, with nearly 14% of the run weighed over 600 pounds. Prices follow with weighted average price in parenthesis.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 74.00; high dressing, 82.00 to 83.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 74.00 to 81.00; high dressing, 81.50 to 90.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 71.00 to 76.00; high dressing, 78.00 to 85.00; low dressing, 67.00. Light, 85 to 92% lean, 700 to 950 lbs., 69.00 to 70.50; high dressing, 72.00 to 76.00; low dressing, 55.00 to 60.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 88.00 to 96.00; high dressing, 97.00 to 105.00; low dressing, 75.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 3 to 7 years old, 900 to 1300 lbs., with 100- to 200-lb. calves 1040.00 to 1460.00/pair; 200- to 350-lb. calves 1260.00 to 1690.00/pair.
