Ogallala livetock auction report


The Ogallala Livestock Auction Market, Ogallala, Neb., reported receipts of 4,700 head Jan. 24, compared to 6,400 head last year, according to the USDA-Nebraska Department of Agriculture Market News, Kearney, Neb.

Compared to last week, steers under 650 pounds sold $3 to $5 lower on a very light test, weights over 650 pounds sold steady. Heifers sold steady to $3 higher. Demand was good from a large crowd of buyers for the second week of the Stock Show Extravaganza. Several large strings of mostly home raised longtime weaned Sandhills calves on hand and most sold in light to medium flesh. The supply included 59% steers with near 79% of the total over 600 pounds.
