The Colorado Auction Feeder Cattle Summary, Greeley, Colo., reported receipts of 6,318 head Jan. 25, compared to 21,742 head last week and 4,645 head last year, according to the USDA-Colorado Department of Agriculture Market News, Greeley, Colo.
Compared to last week, steers at 330 to 600 pounds traded mostly $11 to $15 lower, and 600 to 900 pounds were $4 to $8 lower. No trend was available on steers over 900 pounds due to a light test this week. Heifers at 350 to 500 pounds traded mostly $8 to $11 lower, and 500 to 750 pounds were mostly $3 to $5 lower. There were not enough comparable sales from the previous week on heifers weighing over 750 pounds for an adequate market trend. All classes were trading lower this week following the Chicago Mercantile Exchange feeder cattle board. Trading activity was moderate on good demand. The supply consisted of 60% steers and 40% heifers. Feeders over 600 pounds comprised 42% of the total supply.
