Texas Direct feeder cattle summary

The Texas Weekly Direct Feeder Cattle Summary, reported receipts of 21,600 head Jan. 25, compared to 15,100 head last week and 18,900 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week current feeder steers and heifers were $1 to $6 lower following the declines posted on the CME. There were larger numbers of cattle delivered from out of the area, supplementing the instate FOB sales. Approximately 94% of this week's cattle weighed over 600 pounds. Approximately 46% of this week's weighted average receipts were steers and 54% heifers. Prices were based on net weights FOB after a 3% shrink or equivalent and 5 to 10 cent slide on calves and 4 to 6 cent slide on yearlings from base weights. Delivered prices include freight, commissions and other expenses. Current sales are up to 14 days delivery.

Steers: 9,900 head, 46%, Medium and large frame 1, FOB price, 650 to 700 lbs., 151.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 142.50; 750 to 800 lbs., 140.00 to 143.50; 800 to 850 lbs., 140.00 to 140.50; 850 lbs., 136.00. Delivered price, 570 lbs., 170.50; 650 to 700 lbs., 146.50 to 151.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 145.50 to 149.15; 750 to 800 lbs., 142.00 to 147.80; 800 to 900 lbs., 140.00 to 143.75; 850 to 900 lbs., 138.00 to 142.00. Future delivery, FOB price700 to 800 lbs., 144.20 to 152.85 February to May. Delivered price, 700 to 800 lbs., 146.85 to 147.75 March; 800 lbs., 151.00 May. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, Delivered price 655 lbs., Mexican Origin 138.10; 725 lbs., 145.00.

Heifers: 11,700 head, 54%, Medium and large frame 1, FOB price700 to 750 lbs., 133.50 to 141.50. Delivered price, 600 to 700 lbs., 139.70 to 143.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 137.75 to 143.15. Future delivery, FOB price 650 to 700 lbs., 145.00 to 148.10 March; 700 to 750 lbs., 138.20 to 148.85 February to June. Delivered price, 625 lbs., 150.95 May; 700 to 800 lbs., 139.00 to 148.80 February to June. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, Delivered price 485 lbs., Mexican Origin 159.45; 525 lbs., Mexican Origin 135.35; 700 lbs., 140.00.
