March 1 is deadline for Connecting the Dots 2013

Arkansas

Connecting the Dots, the statewide marketing competition open to Arkansas 4-H and FFA members, opened for registration Feb. 1, with a March 1 entry deadline.

The competition challenges youth to promote a local farmer or farmers market and Arkansas MarketMaker, a free and interactive online resource available that connects Arkansas' farmers, businesses and consumers. There is no cost to enter.

"Connecting the Dots is a unique opportunity for Arkansas youth to put their creativity to work in helping promote a local farmer or farmers market," said Ron Rainey, professor and co-director of the Southern Region Risk Management Education Center and the man behind MarketMaker in Arkansas. "And beyond the creative phase, the contest also gives youth a chance to get to know local food producers and their local farmers market managers."

Entries must be submitted as PDFs.

Last year's inaugural contest was won by the St. Paul FFA.

To learn more about the contest, email marketmaker@uaex.edu or register at http://survey.uaex.edu/MarketMaker.htm.
