Sorghum U heads north to NebraskaSorghum U will be moving north in February to Kearney, Neb. The series sponsored by the Sorghum Checkoff, Sorghum Partners, and High Plains Journal has added new sponsor, Abengoa Bioenergy, and will give producers an opportunity to explore the profitability potential and new market opportunities of grain sorghum. Sorghum U will land in Kearney on Feb. 19 at the Holiday Inn Hotel and Convention Center. The first two Sorghum U sessions in Kansas and Texas proved to be very successful, and the demand to move north was overwhelming. Sorghum Checkoff Renewables Director John Duff says that new markets are calling on producers to meet the needs for grain sorghum. "Growers all across the state of Nebraska have a renewed interest in producing grain sorghum, and the Sorghum Checkoff is committed to providing educational opportunities like Sorghum U to help them produce a profitable crop." Water management has become an important issue across the High Plains, and sorghum has the ability to produce more crop per drop.
