IPSA announces new officers

The Independent Professional Seed Association kicked off the New Year with its 24th Annual Conference and Trade Show, Jan. 8 to 10 at the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson, Ariz. Over 300 people registered for the program, which featured a number of outstanding speakers on a variety of relevant topics.

A key responsibility of members at the IPSA Annual Conference is to make elections to the IPSA Board of Directors and to select Association Officers for the coming year. Board members elected to the Board this year include:

--Lou Buice, Golden Acres Genetics, Waco, Texas (re-elected to second term);

--Terry Schultz, Mustang Seeds, Madison, S.D. (re-elected to second term); and

--Christine Varner, DF Seeds, Dansville, Mich. (elected to first term).

Additionally, the following officers were elected by the board for the coming year:

--President Chuck Cornelius, Cornelius Seed, Bellevue, Iowa;

--First Vice President Lou Buice, Golden Acres Genetics, Waco, Texas (also chair of the IPSA Business Development Committee);

--Second Vice President Terry Schultz, Mustang Seeds, Madison, S.D.;

--Treasurer Carl Peterson, Peterson Farms Seed, Inc., Harwood, N.D.; and

--Secretary Randy Wilken, ProHarvest Seeds of Ashkum, Ill. (also serves as chair of the IPSA Member Services Committee).

Shane Ohlde, Ohlde Seed Farm, Palmer, Kan., was selected as chair of IPSA's Education Committee for 2013.

IPSA recognized John Hennenfent with Munson Hybrids, Galesburg, Ill., for his past year of service as the association's president. The Association also recognized Steve Kinsell with Silver Lane Hybrids, Remington, Ind., who has served six consecutive years on the IPSA Board, including the office of president during 2011.
