Dalhart livestock auction report

The Cattleman's Livestock Commission Co., Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 691 head Feb. 14, compared to 1,621 head last week and 2,221 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to a week ago, a snow storm across trade area earlier in the week reduced receipts significantly. Receipts on hand included a few packages of fleshy calves right off their mothers, a few packages thin-weaned calves and two loads of eight weight feeders steers. Weaned feeder steers and heifers under 550 pounds were firm, few fancier packages were $2 to $4 higher, fleshy non-weaned types were steady to $2 lower. Feeders over 550 pounds were $1 to $2 lower. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Trade and demand was moderate to good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 350- to 850-pounds feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 24%, slaughter bulls 1%, replacement cows 0%, and feeders 75%. The feeder supply included 54% steers and 46% heifers, with nearly 55% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 350 to 400 lbs., 186.00 to 191.00, pre-conditioned 199.00 to 206.00; 400 to 450 lbs., fancy 202.00 to 204.00, few 435 lbs., 191.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 176.00 to 178.00, few 511 lbs., pre-conditioned 186.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 169.00 to 172.50; few 638 lbs., 157.00; load 859 lbs., 137.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 486 lbs., fleshy 157.00; few 550 to 600 lbs., fleshy 151.00 to 152.00; few 663 lbs., fleshy 142.00, few 658 lbs., 153.00; 850 to 900 lbs., fleshy 128.00 to 129.50. Medium and large frame 2, few 677 lbs., 138.00; few 800 to 825 lbs., 126.00 to 130.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 375 to 400 lbs., pre-conditioned 168.00 to 169.00; 400 to 500 lbs., pre-conditioned 165.00 to 167.00, few 469 lbs., 160.00; 500 to 550 lbs., pre-conditioned 156.00 to 157.00; 575 to 600 lbs., 143.00 to 146.00; few 668 lbs., fleshy 134.00; few 700 to 750 lbs., 129.00 to 133.50; few 802 lbs., 125.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 350 lbs., pre-conditioned 160.00 to 161.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 147.00 to 150.00, pre-conditioned 155.00 to 156.00; few 500 to 600 lbs., 136.00 to 141.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 131.50 to 136.50, few 607 lbs., thin 138.00; few 700 to 750 lbs., 128.00 to 133.00. Medium and large frame 2, few 583 lbs., thin 141.00; few 633 lbs., 127.00.

Slaughter cows: Breaking, 75 to 80% lean, few 1438 lbs., 79.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 80.00 to 81.00. Dairy slaughter cows, Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1500 to 1700 lbs., 78.00 to 79.00. Boning, 80 to 85% lean, 1300 to 1600 lbs., 76.50 to 81.25. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1400 lbs., 78.00 to 81.00; low dressing, 70.00 to 75.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1300 to 1600 lbs., not well tested.
