Texas Direct feeder cattle summary

The Texas Weekly Direct Feeder Cattle Summary, reported receipts of 3,000 head Feb. 15, compared to 30,600 head last week and 23,200 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, current FOB feeder steers and heifers were dramatically lower but not enough actual comparable sales to accurately establish a trend. Approximately 100% of this week's cattle weighed over 600 pounds. Approximately 85% of this week's weighted average receipts were steers and 15% heifers. Prices were based on net weights FOB after a 3% shrink or equivalent and 5 to 10 cent slide on calves and 4 to 6 cent slide on yearlings from base weights. Delivered prices include freight, commissions and other expenses. Current sales are up to 14 days delivery.

Steers: 16,800 head, 55%, Medium and large frame 1, FOB price, 700 to 750 lbs., 147.00; 750 to 800 lbs., 137.50 to 141.00; 800 to 850 lbs., 130.00. Delivered price, 650 to 700 lbs., 154.00; 750 to 800 lbs., 149.90; 800 to 850 lbs., 135.75 to 139.00; 850 to 900 lbs., 134.00 to 134.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, FOB price,750 lbs., 146.40 to 147.75. Future delivery, FOB price 650 lbs., 156.50 April to May.

Heifers: 13,800 head, 45%, Medium and large frame 1, delivered price 750 lbs., 134.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, FOB price,700 to 800 lbs., 122.50 to 127.65.
