San Angelo livestock auction report


The San Angelo Producers Livestock Auction Report, San Angelo, Texas, reported estimated receipts of 934 head Feb. 14, compared to 1,407 head last week and 1,627 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, San Angelo, Texas.

Compared to last week feeder steers and heifers were $2 to $5 lower. Slaughter cows were $2 to $3 higher, slaughter bulls were $5 to $6 higher. Stock cows and pairs were firm to moderately higher. Trading and demand were moderate for feeders, while trading was active with good demand for cows and bulls. The supply included 7% slaughter cows, 3% slaughter bulls, 60% feeders, 30% stock cows and pairs. The feeder supply was 50% steers and bulls, 30% weighed over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 294 lbs., 224.00; 451 lbs., 185.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 162.00 to 166.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 190.00 to 200.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 172.00 to 174.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 152.00 to 158.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 352.00 to 142.00. Medium and large frame 2, 350 to 400 lbs., 172.50 to 182.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 160.00 to 171.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 142.00 to 150.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 125.00 to 136.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 116.00 to 119.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 2, 700 to 900 lbs., 90.00 to 110.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 200 lbs., 220.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 168.00 to 176.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 140.00 to 154.00; 628 lbs., 140.00; 718 lbs., 121.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 268 lbs., 185.00; 350 to 400 lbs., 187.50 to 182.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 150.00 to 158.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 130.00 to 138.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 132.00 to 135.00; 700 to 850 lbs., 111.00 to 116.00. Medium and large frame 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 150.00 to 170.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 130.00 to 145.00; 500 to 700 lbs., 114.00 to 126.00; 700 to 900 lbs., 100.00 to 109.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1300 to 1600 lbs., 73.00 to 75.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 900 to 1475 lbs., 80.00 to 86.50; high dressing, 88.00; low dressing, 79.00 to 81.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 850 to 1150 lbs., 77.00 to 80.50; low dressing, 70.00 to 77.00; 85 to 90% lean, 600 to 900 lbs., 65.00 to 69.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1, 1400 to 2100 lbs., 98.50 to 107.00; high dressing, 110.00; low dressing, 1100 to 1750 lbs., 86.00 to 97.00.

Stock cows and heifers: Pregnancy tested, all sold by the head. Medium and large frame 1, heifers, bred 7 to 8 months, 1485.00; bred 6 to 7 months, 1200.00; baby tooth, bred 7 to 8 months, 1850.00; solid mouth, heavy bred, 1425.00 to 1675.00; short solid mouth, heavy bred, 1325.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, baby tooth, light bred, 1275.00; solid mouth, heavy bred, 1100.00 to 1325.00; light bred, 1150.00 to 1200.00; short solid mouth, heavy bred, 1025.00. Medium and large frame 2, solid mouth, heavy bred, 950.00 to 1060.00.

Pairs: All sold by the pair. All have 200- to 450-lb. calves. Medium and large frame 1, baby tooth, 1600.00 to 1700.00; solid mouth, 1575.00 to 1725.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, solid mouth, 1200.00 to 1350.00.

Stocker and feeder cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young, 800 to 1000 lbs., no test; young and middle-aged, 850 to 1050 lbs., 92.00 to 95.00 cwt; middle-aged, 800 to 1300 lbs., 80.50 to 92.00 cwt; thin and or aged, 800 to 1200 lbs., 77.50 to 85.00 cwt.

Breeding bulls: Young Angus, 1275.00 to 1550.00/head.
